5 out of 5 stars Well done.   June 4, 2002

A thoughtful, well documented and well written book. Its facts are irrefutable and many come from RCC historians and RCC documents. Good for Catholics to understand the dogma the Vatican observes and for Christians everywhere to understand the history of the various churches.

It is interesting that the critics of this book resort to name-calling rather than attempting to point out (any) factual shortcomings in it.

5 out of 5 stars CONSIDER THE ACTUAL EVIDENCE CAREFULLY   January 16, 2006

Of course, traditional religious Catholics will be outraged
to even CONSIDER the possibility that their institutional church
system is actually the primary "Mystery Babylon Religion" found
so thoroughly condemned in the Bible [and particularly the
Book of The Revelation]. ! But they should make a very careful
and thorough investigation of WHY many Bible-Protestants
consider many of the RCC traditions and dogmas to be CONTRADICTORY
to sound Biblical doctrine and (as is often the
case) actually PAGAN in origin. - Actually, the FACTS speak
for themselves if one is really interested in researching the
topic and examining the evidence objectively. (which, of course,
very few people are willing to do on matters pertaining to
religious-beliefs). There is a vast reservoir of information
documented from history that clearly shows that many of the
dogmas and traditions of Roman Catholicism have their origin
with COMPROMISES with the engulfed pagan cultures that the Roman
Church so often absorbed. My strong recommendation is that you
read such books as this one from author/researchist Dave Hunt,
and carefully weigh the evidence for yourself. There are certainly good reasons
why many people (going all the way back
to Luther and even BEFORE The Reformation) - a LOT of
people have concluded
that the Roman Catholic version of Christian-
religion is actually "The Woman who rides the Beast," - as
outlined in Revelation 17 and 18. - Dave Hunt makes a very good
case as to the reasons why many have concluded this is so.

5 out of 5 stars Let the truth be know   December 10, 2002

Finally, the truth of the idoltric catholic church is exposed for all who want to know and understand the past, present and future events of the last days. The catholic church has a beginning that can only lead it to the present turmoil it finds itself in, and this book describes this very well. But it is the future events and the role the catholic church will play in them, to become the concubine of satan, that all who seek wisdom should study and understand.
Good work. What the true church needs in this age of "christians" who see no need to read the Bible is more books like this. God bless you Mr. Hunt as He will bless all those who read this work.

5 out of 5 stars Painful but necessary truth-telling   September 5, 2008

The Scriptures say we can know who are false teachers by their fruit and by comparing what they say to Scripture. Even the apostle Paul told believers to test his words against Scripture.

Examining the popes by this standard provides irrefutable evidence that the religion they head is a clever counterfeit Christianity that is deceiving millions. History shows that popes have been among some of the most vile murderers and adulterers to have ruled, all the while claiming to be the gatekeepers to Heaven.

One need look no further than his own copy of the New Testament to see plain-spoken evidence that the Catholic Church is promoting heresy upon heresy.

Jesus said, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever BELIEVETH in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)

He also said, "He that BELIEVETH on him is not condemned: but he that BELIEVETH NOT is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:18)

If we cannot trust Jesus' own words on the matter of salvation, then how can we call ourselves Christians?! Notice that Jesus did NOT say that everlasting life was to be merited by what we DO, but in whom we believe. He was the atonement for our sins, and if we trust his sacrifice (not our good works), then he promises we will be saved.

The thief on the cross had no time for confession, communion, baptism, and the like. And yet Jesus told him that he would be in Paradise that same day.

Who will we believe? Jesus Christ himself -- or the Catholic Church?

I know my answer.

5 out of 5 stars Thoroughly researched, very factual and unbiased.   August 13, 1999

This book IS history of the papacy and the Roman Catholic Church. To label Dave Hunt other than a dedicated researcher is to exhibit a personal bias and lack of understanding. This book is not so much about religion as it is truth. I was once a Catholic but now I have put all of my trust, hope and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ - of the Bible, not the Catholic Church or its' man-made hierarchy. There is a difference!
