Great product September 20, 2005 CDC (Clemmons, NC) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I bought this set for my mother who is losing her eyesight. The CDs are easier for her to use than cassette tapes. She loves James Earl Jones' deep, clear voice. It has given her back the Bible that she had faithfully read for years.
Tremendous Experience July 11, 2005 John J. Beerling 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I bought this for my ailing mother-in-law who could no longer see well enough to read the Bible. This was such a comfort for her to have in her last days. James Earl Jones has an absolutely perfect voice. The combination of the voice, the misic, and of course the Words, were a truly soothing expereience.
Excellent but not as over the top as Scourby... July 7, 2005 Yogini (USA) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
You will love the reading of the Word by this professional vocal actor, James Earl Jones, a voice of the ages. And it is further enhanced by orchestral music. You might consider also getting Alexander Scourby reading the KJV Bible.
MOST IMPRESSIVE! April 24, 2003 Josh (ROSEVILLE, CA United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is inspired. James Earl Jones's vocal mastery is evident as he delivers a fine performance. It is profoundly moving. A wonderful way to study the New Testament at home or in your car. Unabridged, a bargain for 16 CD's.
An awesome rendition of the New Testament - worth every dime March 27, 2004 Pilgrim 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
I love listening to James Earl Jones Reads the Bible. It brings such peace and calm to our home; and after a few minutes we're transported to another level and forget that it's even James Earl Jones. The music does seem to be "digitized" (?), but for some reason it fits soothingly and serenely into the background, barely audible; and you listen to the very end of each track so as not to interrupt the flow of God's Word into your spirit. That Shakespearean voice and the music blend so well together. I like how Jones articulates each word and reads slowly, distinctly, subdued and detached-like. I would have read it with more feeling and passion. But I then would have projected more of me into the reading, rather than let the reading speak for itself. I often wonder if the reading of God's sacred Word had as profound an effect on Mr. Jones as it seems. In my opinion, there is no voice on earth as mesmerizing as his. I just wish so much that he would do a combination of the Books of Proverbs and Psalms.
