must for Bible students October 5, 2005 D. Bookout (Birmingham, Al.) 14 out of 14 found this review helpful
What a relief!! Proverbs are grouped according to subject, Psalms are next to their historical narratives, prophets are with their contemporaries. Meaning becomes clearer when the setting is clearer. Devotionals are helpful without becoming Biblical dissertations. I love this Bible!
You owe it to yourself to try a year with this Bible ! ! ! September 21, 1998 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
Not being a biblical scholar, I cannot attest to the accuracy of the chronological placement of the texts but i will say this, the Daily Bible is THE ABSOLUTELY Best Daily Devotional & Chronological "Narrated" Bible I have ever seen !!! It is such a pleasant representation and refreshing read each day you delve into God's word. It has the author's narration about the context of the culture/history between each day's readings. Trust me, this is a very wise investment in your biblical studies and daily devotional. The church we used to attend before we moved(Shiloh Community Church) recommends that the whole congregation read this specific Bible every day.
Chronological Bible consolidates history October 22, 2005 Alan Olson (Iowa) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
Since we received copies of this Bible last Christmas, we have given copies to at least 5 or 6 other people. I would not use this as my only Bible but it is an excellent study Bible because it consolidates the historical information into a chronological format.
The Daily Bible: New International Version: December 10, 2006 Randy L. Crowson (Currently Turkmenistan) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
F. LaGard Smith has done an outstanding job of putting the bible into chronological order which makes it extremely easy and exciting to read. I have been a christian for over 33 years and have read many different versions of the bible. This one, by far, is the best I've read. Mr. Smiths insights are very good and makes it hard to put down. If you desire to completely read the bible through in one year, this is the bible for you. Even if you don't intend to complete it in a year, put a book mark in the place you left off and you will succeed in reading the entire bible. This is the easiest and most fascinating way to read the bible I have found. I have purchased several copies for family and friends and highly recommend it.
Happy reading.
Love this Bible! March 21, 2007 Chardonnay (USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am currently in a year-long Bible Study using this Bible. Last year our group used a different Bible that read passages from both the Old and New Testaments, a Psalm, and a Proverb. However, I find that I like this format so much better for studying the Word of God. It flows like a story. The commentaries set the stage for what you are about to read. It is beautiful. Reading from this book is almost as if I am reading God's Word for the first time. This would make a wonderful gift for a new or struggling believer.
