The Best Bible for all December 30, 2007 J. FERRARA (Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Looking for a bible can be confusing, but the NAB is the best around.
It provides accurate historical notes on the each book which helps to get a better meaning of the authors intentions. This give history and meaning to the content.
It has clear content which makes it an easy read for any level of reader. This also makes it very readable with no need to desifer the text as in the King James or NIV versions.
It has great foot notes make it easy for passive reading, bible study or quick referance. It gives referance to other books and explains difficult words or give the literal translation of words. This makes the book more creditable the others.
All the books of the bible including Psalms, Gospels, the deuterocanonical books, and revelations.
This is a well research source of information provided by the bishops of the American Church. Wheather you are Catholic, Protestant, Methodist, or Evengelical you will enjoy this version for you passive reading, bible study or discussion groups.
Enjoy
The New American Bible for Catholics - A Treasure! September 2, 2008 Joseph A. Dubee (Princeton, NJ USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
While it is disappointing that there still has to be a "Cathilic Version" of the Bible, it is encouraging that Bible scholars of all Christian denominations are increasingly working from original languages rather than only Latin or Greek (e.g. the Vulgate)translations. This edition, especially because of the expanded footnotes, gives everyone a greater understanding of the inspired Word of God.
I have worn out three copies of this Bible May 28, 2000 bernie (Arlington, Texas) I guess I was to cheep to buy a durable copy. One made it through RCIA. One made it through Lay Ministries. And the third took its toll over the years.
I could rehash the fact that this translation was from the oldest available sacred text and the newest understanding of Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. However, I think it is important that the intent of this translation was to stay true to the original wording. There are translations made before this and after this. It is probably smart to peruse throw them all. I chose this one for its clarity.
There is a Section on Bible in the Church in the beginning.

I have The New American Bible *Catholic World Press* Red Letter Edition, Brought it at Pauline's. It is impressive, and Every Catholic Should be sure to Get A **Catholic Bible** The Real Thing, with all The books in it, which Catholic bible to choose is hard to say, I have heard the RSV is one to get, As long as it is The Original And Not KJV**protestant** then it is okay.
I was digging for understanding and found gold... June 26, 2007 C. J. Ellis 6 out of 10 found this review helpful
I have been exploring the Catholic religion recently. I ordered this Bible after finding out that there were additional books in the Catholic version of the Old Testament. I was curious. Now that I have read a lot of the additional books and a great many of the introductions to the other books of this Bible - I can honestly say that this is the most interesting, understandable, and enlightening Bible I have ever read.
