3 out of 5 stars Nice Devotional Bible...but NOT a Study Bible   September 29, 2006

Let me start off by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Joyce Meyer. In my opinion this Bible was not up to her standard. It has been billed on her program and elsewhere as the first Amplifed STUDY BIBLE. However, it does not have extensive cross references nor a concordance in any form. The commentary notes are nice but are more devotional in nature than for study.

All in all this is a nice Bible for reading once in a while but is entirely ineffective as a study Bible. If you collect Bibles and use quite a few, its probably worth the money. But if you are thinking of using this as your primary Bible, it's not good enough.

3 out of 5 stars The Joyce Meyer Bible   December 12, 2006

I bought this Bible because I want to change my negative view of the Amplified Bible, so I bought the hardback. I am not a Joyce Meyer fan whatsoever. The hardback edition is a big bruiser, but a nice touch is that it has a good-length ribbon marker, and the print of this Bible is N-I-C-E. Easy on the eyes. I would not label this as a Study Bible per-se, more of a devotional Bible. The commentaries by Joyce Meyer are applicatory, and seem pretty well to cover the subjects specified. There is no Concordance in the back(this tome is big enough as it is). I'm still exploring it, so I have not made a definitive answer on whether or not I like the Amoplified. To me, it's always been a rough read. We'll see.(Note 2-21-07: I returned it after Christmas. Ix-nay on the Amplified Bible. Too hard to read.)

Well as you can see the the bible in this pic is purple, now i don't mean to be shallow because it is the word and it is still powerful but when I clicked on the purple bible i assumed i would get a purple bible so imagine my dismay when I get it and it is my worst color... PINK! I'm just saying!

I would not have bought this Bible if I had seen reviewed it in a book store. The Joyce Meyer Ministry is advertising this as a STUDY BIBLE it is not folks. It does not as the above writter stated, contain much of the information I need to cross reference scripture therefore the three stars. I am greatly disappointed in my purchase. Anne K

3 out of 5 stars But yes, it IS claimed to be a study bible!   October 9, 2006

I am a faithful Joyce Meyer's fan, and I watch her program M-F every week. Her new, upcoming (and now here)Everyday Life Bible is being advertised several times per program. And yes, folks, during that television commercial (and I listened this morning specifically for this, after reading the below reviews) it IS touted as being a STUDY BIBLE. I can't give my actual review as I have not yet seen it's contents....but am unfortunately forced here to rate it numerically! But I CAN tell you how it is advertised. I can only surmise that despite either accolades or disappointments, either way, it seems reader's appear to be disappointed with the lack of study tools inside.
